Singapore's drugmaker will soon begin offering daily doses of its erectile dysfunction medicine Viagra (Sildenafil) for a second time in a major European country in November. The first daily dose of the drug, the world's second-biggest drug, could become available by the end of the year.

The European nation's government announced Wednesday that it would begin offering daily doses of the drug in the first month of its monthly prescription drug benefit, called Eroxon (Erectile Dysfunction Drug), to all of Europe's leading prescription drugs, including Pfizer's Viagra and Bayer's Bayer XR.

Viagra, the most popular treatment for erectile dysfunction, is already available in some European countries, including the United Kingdom and Ireland, where it is sold. Germany has also offered Viagra for a second time in a month, as well as a treatment for pulmonary arterial hypertension.

"Erectile dysfunction is a serious health problem in a country that has the highest number of people with diabetes," said the health care executive at the European Commission. "We have no choice but to give up Viagra."
